The Birthday Girl

These are the first thee pictures of Sophia we ever saw. They appeared on our computer screen in this order. With each one we fell more and more in love with her. Our beautiful first child peered back at us from the computer screen. In that moment she took our breath away and made our dreams come true. We were parents, FOR REAL! We had so many questions about her, questions that we would have to wait for and some we would never have the answers to.

Then we brought her home and life began to happen.

Before we knew it she was turning 1 1/2

Since we missed her First Birthday we had a 1 1/2 year Birthday Party for her

and then a two year Birthday Party and here she is on her third Birthday and now she is turning four...

I can hardly believe it, time has passed so quickly, I want to stop it in it's tracks. Our dreams have come true, we have a beautiful family. We adore them and with every fiber of our being love them more then we ever thought humanly possible. I look at Sophia and wonder how I ever got so lucky to call her my daughter. How did i get so lucky to love her as my first child, to cherish all the silly things she does or words she mispronounces or beautiful art work she creates for me to take to work.. I don't know how I got so lucky or what I did to deserve her. I will be forever grateful to god, to China, to the wonderful people at our adoption agency, to our social worker, for our friends and families for helping us bring her home. Most of all I will be forever grateful to her birth-mother for bringing her into this world so that I could be so blessed to call her my daughter. I hope that Sophia's Birth-mother somehow knows how loved she is. I hope that she knows that she has turned into a funny, happy, smart, caring, sensitive, beautiful four year old girl....
