For many in the adoption community the Saturday before Mothers Day is a time to remember, give thanks and to celebrate our children's first mothers. It is not an official holiday but it is celebrated by the adoption community each year to remember how lucky we are to be mothers because of the sacrifice of an other woman.
I have been blessed twice....
there are no words of thanks adequate...there are two women I will never know who sacrificed for their daughters. Who chose life for them and who gave me the biggest blessing of my life. I will never know who they are or what thoughts about their daughters are, but I know in my heart that both of these women were courageous, loving and selfless. they chose life for both of my girls and chose to give them a chance at a life they might not have other wise had. For that I am grateful to them both..
If I had the opportunity to speak to either of them I would want them to know that each of their girls are immensely happy, loved beyond measure and healthy. To Amelia's Birth mother I would want her to know that her medical condition has been taken care of and that she is blossoming into an amazing little person who is funny, fearless, strong, beautiful and has a big sister who she adores. To Sophia's Birth mother I would want her to know that Sophia loves school and reads as many books as we can give her. That she has little sister who she cherishes and that she is the smartest thing I have ever seen. My girls were not only blessed by their birth-mothers but each by a loving Foster Mother who cared for them while they were in China before I became their forever mommy. These two women are without a doubt two of the most amazing women I have ever known. To care for another persons child and then give them up so they can be adopted to people you likely will never know is incredibly selfless in my eyes. We have been extremely lucky in that we were able to make contact with Sophia's foster mother very shortly after adopting her. We share emails and I send pictures to her on a regular basis. Blessed yet again when we were able to meet and talk with Amelia's foster mother. She is a lovely women with a smile I will never forget, happily, I am in contact with her as well.
so this Mother's day my heart is full and I am blessed because of a lot of amazing women in my life not only my Mother and Mother -in law who I love and wish a very Happy Mother's Day, but by the 4 women who mothered my daughters before they become my daughters, I thank you and I wish you much love.......
Amelia and Sophia
Love that you took the time out to honor them. We owe our girls' birth moms so much! :)
