SUMMER VACATION!

an other year of school has come to an end for Sophia. We are so proud of her and what she has learned this year. She has grown so much in stature and in maturity, it is astounding. We owe so much to her wonderful teachers

Ms. Maria (her main teacher)

Ms. Nikki (the assistant teacher),

Ms. Suzi (the outside environment teacher)

Ms. Amy (the assistant outside environment teacher),

Ms. Debra (the music teacher,

Ms. Tara (the yoga teacher)

Ms. Mary (the Spanish teacher).

these women are so very dedicated to the children of The Children's House Montessori of Deland. Their love shows in the care that they give all of the kids that attend that school. The great thing about it is that you can see it in little ways every day in the children's behavior and what they are learning. Much more then numbers, colors, letters, shapes etc etc. they learn about life and common everyday manners. They learn to respect others and that everyone is different and that should be celebrated. they learn that contributing to a common good is not only something that makes us feel good but it is our duty as members of a community. This year the school had a campaign to raise money to expand. Currently the school ranges from 18 months through the 6th grade and the goal was to raise enough money to expand to go the the 8th grade. The school included the children in the campaign in many ways. There was a 2K run/walk where the kids asked people to sponsor them. The children sold inscribed bricks that will pave the walk way to the new building, the had bakes sales and farmers markets with the fruits and vegetables that they raised in the school garden. It was really amazing to see how excited the kids were to be included in this project. There was never a doubt that we would reach the goal but never did I think we would do as well s we did. Th school raised $18,000.00 more then the set goal for the project, Isn't that amazing? It makes my heart sore to know Sophia and now Amelia (she starts in the fall) are part of such a wonderful loving learning environment.

Summer vacation is here and we have some fun things planned for our family. Lots of arts and craft projects, visiting some places we have never been before and some old places that we love. Trying new things and just being together enjoying the time with no agenda and no pressure of a schedule. We are looking forward to the next 3 months of no school but are always excited when school starts again. The promise of a new year and what it will bring is always exciting.

Have a wonderful summer!
